Japanese language comebacks by K-Pop groups are scheduled at least once a year (more comebacks for groups with a solid Japanese fan base), as well as Japanese versions of their already released Korean language title tracks. It’s no surprise that fans always keep their ears and eyes tuned for new releases. Below are five Japanese language singles by K-Pop Groups in 2022 that are an absolute must-listen, be you a fan or not.
1. Red Velvet - ‘WILDSIDE’
As if their ‘Feel My Rhythm’ comeback wasn’t enough to make ReveLuvs swoon and scream for joy, less than three weeks later, they release their Japanese single ‘WILDSIDE’. Charisma and exceptional vocals are a ReVe signature, and those talents very well shined through despite this being their first Japanese single and album in years. Red Velvet stans must be more than satisfied with the ample content this year. Thank you, SM.
2. TWICE - ‘Just be yourself'
It’s no surprise that TWICE are one of the queens of amazing Japanese comebacks. From ‘Breakthrough’ to ‘Perfect World’, TWICE has come back time and time again with only the best Japanese releases. This time is no different, as ‘Just be yourself’ is the perfect message they could send to fans, and most likely themselves too. If this release doesn’t make your ONCE heart swell, what one earth will?
3. CIX - ‘Pinky Swear’
Much like their sunbaes Red Velvet, it has also been quite a while since fans were gifted with a new Japanese release from CIX. The wait was well worth it, because ‘Pinky Swear’ is definitely a must listen for any K-Pop stan. The boys looked incredible, and they kept to the pink theme in the most creative of ways.
4. ITZY - ‘Voltage’
Like the title and lyrics imply, this particular release definitely gets MIDZY’s voltage up. With killer vocals from resident ITZY vocalist Lia, to the flawless choreography as expected, ITZY once again showed us that any release, be it Japanese, Korean or even English is more than worth streaming and viewing over and over again.
5. ENHYPEN - ‘Always’
This one just had to be on the list. Judging from the Japanese versions of their Korean title tracks, any original Japanese language release ENHYPEN puts out definitely makes fans hearts skip multiple beats. If anything, HeeSeung’s vocals will make all the impression. What are your favourite Japanese releases in 2022 so far?
