This series will get to know some of the female idols who are girl crush material. A ‘girl crush’ is defined as a woman or girl who is the object of one’s admiration. In other words, one of the female K-Pop idols that fans wish was their best friend or girlfriend. This can be based on their style, personality, overall vibe, etc. BLACKPINK’s Lisa opened the series for us followed by MAMAMOO’s HwaSa, TWICE’s JiHyo, ITZY’s RyuJin, Red Velvet’s SeulGi, Jeon SoMi, STAYC’s SuMin, LOONA’s Yves, ChungHa, former Lovelyz member MiJoo, (G)I-DLE’s SoYeon, HyunA, Jessi, EVERGLOW’s Mia, EXID’s Hani, IVE’s YuJin, CL, IU, and LeeHi. Readers voted for ITZY’s YeJi in our weekly poll (at the end of the article) to be featured this week. Let’s get to know our girl crush, YeJi! Before we get started, let’s take a moment to appreciate her latest haircut (pictured above). YeJi recently cut her hair short and we are living for it! YeJi is famous as a member of the popular 4th generation girl group ITZY. She is known for her out-of-this-world performance presence and lovable personality. YeJi has some of the prettiest and sharpest dance lines in K-Pop. Her dance cover of ‘River’ by Bishop Briggs that she performed on “Studio Choom” is nothing short of legendary.
Her “Studio Choom” performance proves something else, too. YeJi can pull off sleek and sophisticated vibes to hip and trendy vibes. That is not the extent of her duality though. YeJi is known for her cat-like face which gives her a strong gaze and intense appearance but, just as mentioned in our bias duality article, she is also known for how lovable she is. YeJi is relatable for a number of reasons. Everyone has a moment when they forget the name of something and give it a new one, but YeJi is well-known for having her own language and making up names for things. This is only one example. She shows us another aspect of relatability in this recent behind-the-scenes vlog when she kind of rambles on trying to tell us she is hungry and seems kind of tired but immediately perks up at the sight of chocolate. YeJi really is a relatable queen.
There are so many things to love about YeJi but not enough time to talk about them. Like YeJi says, “It’s YeJi’s world,” and we’re happy to live in it! What do you think?
