The Joy Ruckus Club 4 festival kicked off with the all-star K-Pop Superfest lineup. It was a treat to listen to back-to-back performances from artists whose music ranged from Pop (like KAACHI and W24), soul (like Choi YeGeun), rap (like PH-1 and Sway D), and everything in between. I was only able to tune in for the Friday (PDT)/ Saturday (KST) show and I was not disappointed. An awesome thing about this concert series is that viewers can be introduced to artists that they may have never come across otherwise. This past weekend was the first time I was able to see many of these artists perform. I really enjoyed the soulful sounds of Choi YeGeun and I really loved listening to KAACHI’s catchy music. After listening to KAACHI’s set, I was ready to make a whole new Apple Music playlist featuring some of the music they performed on there. I really liked their songs ‘Your Turn’ and ‘Photo Magic’ and need to hear them as much as humanly possible.
W24 was a unique group to watch in that they played live instruments in addition to their vocal performance. They really drew viewers in with their awesome singing and engaging performance. They won over a lot of new fans that day! DONGKIZ really put on a great show, too! Although they were one member short (due to a shoulder injury), they really put on a series of captivating performances. They looked smooth in their black ensembles as they began their set with their song ‘Lupin’, before quickly transitioning to their song Fever which had some great 70’s, retro vibes. They ended with their awesome song, ‘Crazy Night’. SwayD and SAN E & BE’O (FAMEUS ENT) showed off their lyrical talents during their times on stage. They all brought a lot of passion and energy to their performances. SwayD performed songs such as ‘Skrrt Skrrt’ while SAN E & BE’O showed how much musical chemistry they have with one another.
PH-1 was the one artist that I was really looking forward to watching. He is an incredible performer. I was very excited when he played my favorite song of his, ‘Cupid’. I was dancing in my seat and even with my limited Korean speaking skills, I was singing and rapping along with the lyrics (especially the lyrics that were in English). He also performed ‘Malibu’, ‘Pack It Up’, and ‘365&7’. When the world opens up again, his show is one that I definitely neeeeed to check out. This concert series was an incredible opportunity to see so many artists perform all at once. And what’s even better is that I was able to attend these performances in my pajamas!
